Application Process

Application Process

"The teachers are very knowledgeable and thoughtful. The parents are great. Our family feels like we belong. "

- Emilio A., parent

Step 1: Apply

Student parents and staff applying for a subsidy should fill out the Subsidized Application.

Faculty, staff, community parents, and student parents applying for full-fee placement should fill out the Full-Fee Application.

The application fee is waived for UC Berkeley students, and costs $50 for all other applicants.

Infant Applications

Applications for infants can be initiated during pregnancy. After birth, you will need to contact our office to verify name, gender, and birth date for the application to remain valid.

Step 2: Take a Tour

Once we receive your application, you can contact the main office to request a tour.

If you have applied for subsidized care, you will first be contacted for an intake interview to establish eligibility, then contacted to schedule a tour.

Center Placement

Placements are made at one of five centers, depending on the child’s age and available spaces at each center. Classroom and/or center assignments will change as the child ages. When you apply, you may request a preference for a specific center.

Step 3: Sign Your Contract

Applicants will be notified of acceptance to the program, and given a contract.

In addition to the contract, you will need to submit a medical form (to be completed by a physician) and your child's immunization record. For parents receiving subsidized care, you will also need to submit income verification, proof of UC Berkeley registration or staff status, training verification form, and your child's birth certificate.

Once your child is accepted, a $700 nonrefundable advance payment is required, and is applied to the last month's fees.

Wait List/Eligibility List

There is a great demand for our services, particularly for infants and young toddlers, and unfortunately we are not able to serve all families who apply. The FAQ provides detailed information about our Wait List and Eligibility List.
